Walking in Madeira - New Holiday Launch

Authentic Adventures are pleased to announce that we will be introducing Madeira as a new Walking location in Autumn 2012.

In the safe hands of Stefano Spinetti, one of our excellent walking leaders, our walking group will explore this stunning Portuguese Island which is famed for its miles of coastline, high mountain peaks and abundant plant life.

Staying in the Hotel Pousada dos Vinháticos, a rural hotel situated high in the mountains away from the normal tourist resorts of Funchal and Machico, you will be able to make the most the hotel's facilities and relax at this mountain retreat.

The first Madeira walking holiday will take place on 26th November 2012. Places are likely to be limited so book now to avoid missing getting a place on this trip.

We hope to be able visit Madeira for Painting too so if this is something that is of interest to you, please let us know and we will make sure that you are one of the first to receive the dates and information when available.

Alpujarras, Spain replaces Santorini as our 2012 European Singing location with Faith Watson

Alpujarras National Park, Spain
Sadly due to the already high prices of flights to Santorini in June 2012, we have decided that the planned Santorini trip should be replaced with a singing holiday to the stunning Alpujarras National Park, Spain.

Whilst the change from Greece to Spain may mean you get to learn some Spanish songs rather than Greek ones, we can assure you that you won't be disappointed with our arrangements or the holiday. Due to our strong connections with this region, we have some wonderful experiences and plans up our sleeves.

The Pool and Gardens at the hotel.
Your accommodation for this trip will be the family run Hotel de Mecina. With much Moorish influence, this very attractive and comfortable hotel lies at the heart of the Tahá. The rooms are spacious, there is a delightful swimming pool and Victor's hospitality is remembered by all.

To top it all off, we are honouring the price quoted for the Santorini trip - that's £1089 per person excluding flights and offering this holiday single supplement free !

This should mean that for the price you were looking at paying to join the trip in Santorini (if travelling alone) you can have an all inclusive trip to Spain.

What more could you ask for, an inspiring tutor, Faith Watson, charming back up staff in the form of Andrew Goldsworthy, a friendly family run hotel and stunning scenery to sing around .

Places will be limited and we expect this holiday to sell out quickly due to the excellent value for money it represents, so book your place early.

Roger Jones wins the Menena Joy Schwabe Memorial Award at the ROI

We are pleased to be able to congratulate our own, Roger Jones for winning the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI), Menena Joy Schwabe Memorial Award for outstanding oil painting.  The painting that won the prize was Roger's Shrimp Fishermen, Morecombe Bay.

The award was presented to Roger by Michael Portillo at the exhibition's preview on 6th December.

Roger says he was inspired by the times when he worked with these fishermen on a film series he helped produce and direct about the natural history of the British Isles. The programmed called, The Living Isles was presented by Julian Pettifer.

You can see Roger's painting and many other artist's work at the Royal Institute of Oil Paintings annual exhibition which will be taking place from 7th - 18th December at the Mall Galleries, London.
